Bessie Bunnies

I’m almost done with these twin rabbits. They’re going to be a present. They were meant to be done for easter but, well, life happens and things take longer than expected. I’ve finished one set of clothes and one set of pyjams. The stuff’s all cut up and ready for the second set of pyjamas and the second set of clothes. Then they’ll both have a tutu and a little top. They’re all cut up and ready to sew aswell.

Bessie’s stuck in the middle of the pics because I don’t like to leave a gap on the page. Seems like such a waste of a few square centimetres. And the pattern for the bunnies, once it’s finished and done, will be named after her. Aaaaah :-)

I made knickers!

Is it quite straightforward?

I’m rubbish at explaining things!

Bunny Pattern

I’m playing around with making my own bunnies at the moment. I’ve done a pattern I kind of like but I’m just tweaking it. And tweaking it means lots of testing it out. I’m getting sick of all the half-finished bunnies lying around in various states of undress. Here’s the latest. I wonder if It’ll ever make it to a proper soft toy with a face and everything?

The duvet cover was per chased last week in a charity shop in good old Royal Leamington Spa. It had lace and ribbon sewn across it. Not for long though once I got it home!

And to complete the set….

Maybe he was upset that the other two got blogged and he didn’t?

Pesky Puddy Tats

All three cats have no respect whatsoever for my stuff. Stuff in this case being neatly pressed piles of fabric and accessories sorted into colour groups for the bunny clothes I’m hoping to start sewing together tomorrow. I’ve made a pair of dungarees, a pinafore dress, a smock-type dress that needs a bit of work on the sizing across the chest, pyjamas, a coat and some shorts. Oh and a shirt. And a hat. They’ve all been done literally from scratch. But I made and adjusted patterns as I went along so I can remake them all as many times as I like. I’ve made them all in thin plain cream fabric I got a free roll of years ago. Tomorrow I’m going to start making them in pretty fabrics with ribbons and lace and stuff added to jazz them up.

Anyway, this morning I found Charlie sat in the box of pink fabric oddments…..

Just hanging around

Abbie bought me some lovely green and black’s chocolate and a small bottle of Jacob’s Creek Brut Cuvee when I finished my first placement. I ate the chocolate the second it hit my hands. Well, I did share it out. But I put the Jacob’s Creek by until I wanted a treat. I drank it today. It was lovely. It isn’t too strong but it tasted pretty strong and it did go to my head a bit. Specially at 2 o clock in the afternoon. Thanks Abbie :)

And I found two of my easter bunnies hanging upside down from the paper light shade in the lounge. How on earth did they get up there I wonder???

Easter bunnies

I’ve been busy. I’ve been making easter bunnies. First I had to make a pattern. I got there in the end. Then I had to figure out what order to sew things together. I didn’t make too many mistakes thankfully. I’ve made four now. Two have faces. And pants. The other two are still in the altogether. I’m now drawing up patterns for clothes. The living room is a complete and utter tip. Thankfully Emma is a very tolerant person. She lets me do this kind of stuff without so much as a sigh. Well, most of the time anyway.

Oscar’s settling down; Bessie’s settling in; Peanut’s joining in

Quick pet update:

Oscar is definately calmer than he used to was before Bessie (aka the bunter) came along. He’s always loved physical contact. Emma or me or random visitors often find him at our feet looking up waiting for the top of his head to be stroked. Well now he has physical contact on tap 24 hours a day. He lives under Bessies tummy. She obviously doesn’t mind. She licks him occasionally. The rest of the time she just sits there. She’s definately feeling more at home. I know. She’s started wrecking my stuff. For the first few days, she didn’t venture out of the hall. Their cage is in the hall but it’s mostly left open when me or Emma is around so they have free rein. At first, she popped her head round the living room door and then ran back. Then she started to run from corner to corner of the living room. Now she runs across the room chomping at the occasional piece of material. She’s fast. She’s got a hole in something a nanosecond after she made contact with it. Just ask Ian about his  trousers! Soon enough she’ll be as bad as Oscar. He sits in the middle of neat piles of fabric and then sort of dances. It ends up everywhere. He bit the forward-stroke/question mark key of the laptop the other day and gnawed a bit off one corner. I got it back on though. Look ///////////??????????? See!

And Peanut’s not one to be left out of any action. He’s even ventured in and out of the rabbit cage thingy. Basically, Peanut’s a people cat. Where the people are, Peanut is. If the people are with the rabbits, Peanut’s with the rabbits. He’s tried nuzzling up to Oscar a few times lately. He hasn’t been nudged away. I could see them becoming proper tame with each other. Wouldn’t that be sweet :)

Happy Birthday Jeanette

I know it’s 8 days late but better late than never. Nette and Leah popped in after school. We ate chocolate cake. And candles. Well, we didn’t eat the candles. That would be silly. We sang. We sang ‘happy birthday to you’.

She opened our prezzies. And Pete and Lorraine’s. Pete and Lorraine got her posh (molten brown) body lotion which she liked a lot. Emma got her a sweeping brush. Not just any sweeping brush. A designer sweeping brush. Pink. With flowers. And a garden flower on a stick. You poke it in the grass. It doesn’t do anything. Em also got her a little brown plastic rabbit. She got plastic so that if Jeanette ‘accidently’ dropped it, it wouldn’t break. Clever, I thought. I got her the game rush hour. Have you ever played it? There’s a few versions online. If you type ‘rush hour’ into google you’ll no doubt find a few. Here’s one. Make sure you click on training camp not competition. I clicked on competition. I didn’t feel very good about myself for a while after.

Then Jeanette and Emma had a quick game of ball. But not with just any ball, with the electric shock ball Emma got for christmas off her sweet little grandma. The ball gives off random electric shocks so the aim is not to have it in your hands for very long at all. It was fun watching.
