From the man who’s epitaph reads ‘told you I was sick’

He danced with a monkey

He danced with a cat

He danced with a man

In a big black hat

He danced with a Muslim

He danced with a Jew

He danced with a Chinaman

Six foot two

He took all his clothes off

And he danced all day

That’s when they came

And took him away

My Lovely Housemate is Really Really Wierd

I came to use the camera today and found these on it. An eye, a belt buckle, a button on a pair of jeans, a tattoo that looks very like the one on Emma’s hand, a thumbnail and the sole of a shoe. She has nice eyes (well one nice eye anyway) don’t you think?

Can I just say thank you to Sue and Baz for the folders and notebooks they bought me some time ago which are now fully in operation along with the Hello Kitty 6-way pen with pencil that I’ve grown so fond of. One lovely notebook for each subject. Very useful.

On the subject of subjects, we start a new mini-module this week – IPLP – something about working together with other health professionals/multi disciplinary practice. All good. Except for the fact that we have yet another assignment! Due 12th December. Just when you thought you were getting a grip…

Oh well, drinks after Uni on wedsnesday. Meal and cinema with Emma, Nette and mum on Friday – the lovely Charlie Cox in Stardust again ;-) . At least some fun stuff to look forward to!

You need Speakers for this

I should be working but facebook called…..

Funny!

Friday…

Feeling fat. Big tummy from 1) chinese take away on Tuesday 2) Lots of Chocolate on Wednesday 3) Toffee Waffles and lots of fresh bread with cheese at lunchtime (oxfam lunch at spirituality and faith centre).

So an hour on the air walker, healthy tea cooked in the new George Foreman. The old one had kind of had it so we got a new Grill and Melt one. It’s great. Then working through the ‘evidence base’ chapter in a huge pile of books. With a bit of magical help from Gandalf, it didn’t take long to get the bulk of it done.

Haircut this morning. Better hurry up and get showered or Emma will start fretting about being late. Then, banished to the caravan while Emma and Ian carry on plastering in the hall :-)

David Tennant has competition…

David Tennant has competition in the form of Charlie Cox. He plays Tristan Thorne, the leading man in Stardust. The film is fantastic. He is fantastic in the role. And he is just phwoar anyway. Go see Stardust. Best film I’ve seen in ages and ages. I will be having sweet dreams tonight as a bonus!

I got a new colouring book :-)

And Dr Poppelwell was fine. I wouldn’t say it was enjoyable although she is very nice. Not a bad reminder of what people have to go through to prove their sanity. I’ve got to go back at the beginning of every term. So til January then……..

I’ve always been good with babies………

The lengths people go to to get a smile from a small baby! This is Libby (Elizabeth Joy), Abbie’s number two child. Being held by my sister Jeanette and being emotionally disturbed by me :-)

Below you can see Lauren, the proud big sister, wondering what a stranger is doing with the newest member of her family. I’m hidden from view playing with dolls. Lauren had been playing but she got fed up so I carried on on my own! And Abbie and Nick obviously :-)

These were actually taken about three weeks ago but life feels so hectic at the moment, it seems to take me ages to get round to anything. This morning I’m going to see Dr. PoppleWaffle, or something like that, to be assessed for appropriateness (sp?) for mental health nursing. I think it may have something to do with an extensive history of mental ill health (dissocation/DID/depression/anxiety – depends who you ask) not too long ago. Must remember not to twitch or keep looking at the hairs on the palms of my hands. And I’m not wearing my stripy legwarmers today just in case it doesn’t go in my favour. Only joking. I imagine it will all be fine and probably quite boring.

Then tonight I’m going to see Stardust. I’m really looking forward to it. Good old Orange Wednesday! And good old Joanne for taking me and going halves on the two-for-one thing!

Going to briefly update Leah’s page now!

Long time no blog!

It’s all been a bit of a shock to the system to be honest: this Uni lark!

Lots of work if you want it although, I think you could maybe get away with not that much if you were clever about it. Unfortunately, I’m not. So I’m plodding my way through it all, slowly figuring out which bits are more important than others.

One thing I did want to say: in the first week I went to the library and had a quick rekky (sp?) of some of the books on the list and I looked up a few journal articles and I thought ‘how on earth am I ever going to read any of this?’ Within the first paragraph I’d come across three new words (none of them less than seven syllables!), six new phrases and two new concepts. But three weeks in, picking up a book or article with lots of words and phrases I don’t know is a lot less daunting. I think you do a different kind of reading when you’re studying and you do get used to it. Thank goodness!

And I’m getting used to not having any money. That’s taking slightly longer than the reading thing but C’est la vie!
