Card bits and Pieces

I’m really happy with Riley’s present. I wasn’t very happy two days ago when a certain ginger puss walked all over the vests I’d made with muddy wet paws. I had to buy more and redo them. Anyway, that stress over, I really like what I’ve ended up with. Tonight I’ve been doodling with the intention of making a card with the printed bits and pieces. Maybe a decoupage card? I’ll have about half an hour when I get home from work tomorrow before we go out for a meal and I’ll hand it all over with a sigh of relief.

I really do love making and I really love creating personalised prezzies but I do tend to become obsessed until the deadline!

Ouch :-(

thumb-jabs.jpg

Took my occupational health form in to see the nurse this morning. The university want proof of my vaccination history. Hepatitis C injection in the left arm. DTP in the right. Ouch. Wasn’t expecting them there and then. Felt ‘odd’ all day but she said I would. Sort of fluey??

There are gaps in my medical notes. And they don’t start until I was three. Made several phone calls this afternoon trying to figure out whether I had certain vaccinations. No joy. Could prove tricky. Apparently they won’t just do them again (spoil sports :-) ) And I need to evidence my immunity before I’m allowed near patients. I have a week to figure this out. A conundrum indeed!

Aiming for a record…

How many blog entries can I fit into an hour?!!!

I haven’t blogged for ages. Not properly anyways. And I properly won’t again for a bit after today. Then again I might. Who knows.

I haven’t had any venlafaxine for a week or thereabouts. I’m fine. Except for the exhaustion. I feel knackered! Stiff muscles. Really hard to get up and going in the morning. Really easy to fall into bed at night. Everything in between is a combination of sadness, happiness and anger! And naps. I’m pretty sure it’s just withdrawal. Soon I will be completely free of any impact of any mental-health-related drug. I like the thought. Good timing with leaving work and starting uni in a couple of months.

We had a new fence yesterday. Emma blogged it (old and new pics) here. Half a grand each but it’s a really professional job. And it should last us a good thirty years if we look after it properly. Or so Bazza says. No reason to disbelieve the bloke!

Finally, I told my sister I loved her today. Scary. She hugged me and everything. Ain’t doing that again in a hurry. Had to lie down after. ;-)

DIY Decoupage

Found this picture on flickr. Printed six. DIY decoupage. Stuck it onto scrabbook paper. Didn’t like it in the end. Well I did like it. But it wasn’t what I wanted after all. Oh well :-)

For Baby Riley

I can only apologise to Emma and the numerous visitors for the state the lounge has been in today. I’ve been making! Jade had a baby girl last week, Riley. I remember Jade being born. Seems like yesterday. She’s visiting Coventry next week so I’m making some red and blue things. Jeanette made the mistake of leaving a suitcase and two bags full of Leah’s old clothes. The blue gingham was a summer school uniform dress. The red spotty skirt Leah wore last summer will be the bunny’s body 8) Hopefully I’ll be finished by tomorrow night. A bodysuit and booties. A toy bunny rabbit with it’s own little shoes. And a bag to put them all in!

Loz’s Boy

This is Daniel, Loz’s son. He’s 18 months old. He’s beautiful. There’s been lots of conversations about who he looks like.

Most people reckon he loks like Leah (bottom left with water pistol). I think he has a definate look of Loz when Loz was a kid. Top two pics below. And I think in the second picture above, he shares the gormless look I had at about his age! (bottom right).

Look what came through the letterbox!

Dad’s Day on Sunday

thumb-fathers.jpg

This is what I did with the children in sunday school! They were all different. Some did a front and back of dad. Some just did a front and then drew on the back. Others did a front and wrote on the back. They did loads of it themselves - everything except machine sewing the front and back together. They stuffed them (and threw stuffing up in the air and around the room). They drew, coloured in and stuck a fabric heart inside. And they did the last few stitches by hand with Sharon’s help! And they made fridge magnets - just on card with a bit of magnetic sheet stuck to the back. And they were all stuck into a clear plastic wallet (with a few confetti hearts and stars) and tied with gift ribbon. The dad’s loved them. Personally I had to go home and have a large glass of wine!

But this card from Kate helped. I needed to feel appreciated on Sunday because it was a hard-going one. Sometimes I’m a bit over-adventurous with the activities. But hey, better that than going the other way. It made me smile. The front said ‘May God Praise You’ but then obviously a parent had a little chat and the ‘praise’ was changed ‘bless’ :-) :-) I LOVE kids!
