Nette was in the paper yesterday! And I don’t just mean your little “happy birthday Jeanette, 40 today” lark with a little fuzzy picture that could be anyone; I mean the full works! For a link to the article, click this:
Apparently, the amusement for Jeanette started yesterday morning about 7.30 when she got a text from another dinner lady: “happy birthday Jeanette just saw an interesting photo of u outside school brace yourself” 
When she left the house, she immediately ripped this photo down but didn’t mind the others!
The amusement for me started at 3.15 when I heard a small child outside Leah’s school say “mummy, mummy, we sang happy birthday to Mrs Poole”
Emma filled the car with balloons with 40 on them for when we picked Nette and Leah up from school. Nice touch The funniest bit was when Em locked the car doors once we were all in. Nice to add a smidgen of fear to special occasions. Adrenalin gives a natural high. All free too.
We had a pleasant trip down the M69 to Fosse Park. Emma gave her next vouchers (kind of) and they shopped for something for Nette while I took Leah off to the kiddy clothes bit. I miss the days when you could say “ooh Leah, this is pretty” and buy it for her. Now she knows what she likes. It’s not labels. It’s not popular fashion. It’s not any particular colour. It’s just she knows what she likes. She picked a pair of denim dungaree shorts and a funky t-shirt with a rainbow and the word ‘peace’.
I don’t know how surprised Nette was when she got home to a house full of lovely people. Chippy tea. Cake with 4o candles. Luvverly
Can’t wait til she’s 50!!!
Made Nette this book. I really enjoyed writing the silly poem and raking up all the photos, images and all the scrap pieces together to decorate and personalise it. It’s funny.
